Willard “Will” Eugene Johnson died peacefully at IU West Hospital on December 20 in Avon, Indiana at the age of 72.
Will was born on November 12, 1951 in Indianapolis to Clarill and Dorothy Johnson. He graduated from Danville High School in 1969.
Will is survived by his wife, Eleanor “Ellie” Johnson, his stepsons David Phillips of Indianapolis, Robert Phillips of Fishers, Michael Phillips (Dana) of Brownsburg, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Linda Phillips and stepson, Richard Phillips.
He married Ellie in 1978 and worked as a land surveyor for more than 50 years.
His loved ones remember him as a patient and loving father who mentored and supported many in their personal and professional goals.
Will was a passionate sports fan – always cheering for his Indiana teams, especially the Pacers. He was a skilled bowler whose left-handed heat was always reflected in his scores.
Will’s last wish was to encourage everyone to take care of themselves and go to the doctor regularly. He asked everyone to stay on top of issues and to not put things off, especially when it comes to living a long and healthy life.
