Timothy Eugene Wilson, 73, of Avon passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. Tim was born in Dallas, Texas, but Indy Racing brought him to Indiana. “Big Tim”, as he was known, was a very accomplished engineer. He had a brilliant mind and a heart for designing new systems for whatever career path he was following at the time. In his early 20’s Tim was a diver off the coast of California, repairing oceanic drainpipes. He designed ducted fans and chute systems to help with the flow of debris in and out of the water…but Tim’s real passion was racing. He worked with Funny cars, including the original Chi Town Hustler. He continued working with Funny Cars in the Texas area in the 1970’s and numerous Indy Car teams over the years. Tim most recently designed and patented a brake system whose stopping power was off the charts.
Tim will be remembered as a very generous, kind-hearted, brilliant man with talent beyond measure. The stories he could tell. He will be dearly missed by his friends, family and his beloved cat, Toto.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cremation Society of Indiana, 4115 Shelby Street. Leave A Message, Share A Memory
