Thomas Gregory Layton, 57, passed away on December 08, 2024, at his childhood home in New Palestine, IN. He was born in South Bend, IN on May 07, 1967, to parents Everett (Jerry) Layton and Lorraine (Gottee) Layton. He married Arlyne (Adams) Layton on July 14, 1990.
He graduated from New Palestine high school in 1987. After high school he started the Union painter apprenticeship program in 1989 and would go on to become a journeyman painter. He specialized in hanging various types of wall coverings all over the state. He also painted the Colts field for several years during his time working with Hoosier Dome. He always took pride in his work. He retired from the Union in 2022 at 55 years old.
He loved to fish and spend a lot of time outdoors. He was very meticulous about mowing his lawn, he changed directions every time and created a checkerboard pattern. He has also taken care of his fathers-in-law Terry’s lawn with the same care for 10 years after his tragic accident. He loved spending time with family camping, trail riding, horse shows, and watching Big Bang Theory. At the horse shows he was known for cooking huge, delicious breakfasts and passing out popsicles to all the kids. He wasn’t a big reader but thoroughly enjoyed reading about useless facts and information in Uncle John’s Bathroom Readers Series.
He is predeceased by his father Everett Jerry Layton.
He is survived by mother: Lorraine Layton; wife Arlyne (Adams) Layton; children: Ashley Dunlap, Chase, Wyatt, and Rylee Layton; grandchildren: Jaylen, Jasmine, Jacob, Jarren, Jace, Jerah Dunlap, and Aurora Layton; great grandchildren: Easton and Alaya Dunlap ; Siblings: Michael, Mark, William, Patrick Layton, and Rebecca Coffman.
