Shirley Irene (Higgs) Harvey Jones, a native Hoosier, passed away from liver cancer at 82 on September 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Forrest and Rosetta Higgs. She was born in Indianapolis on August 15, 1941. Shirley graduated from Manual High School in 1960.

She was preceded in death by her brother David Higgs, ex-spouses Robert (Bob) Harvey Sr. and Ivan Jones. She is survived by her two sons Robert Alan (Terry) Harvey Jr. of Noblesville, IN, and Bradley Scott (Tammie) Harvey Sr. of East Africa and Siloam Springs, Ark, along with three grandchildren, Bradley Jr., Yuda, and Morrie (Jaehee) Jun and her niece Roxanne Higgs.

Shirley worked from 1975 to 2007 for the Indianapolis Police Department as the secretary in Robbery and Homicide and Identification and Records. She was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 86 and was a member of the Retired Police Officers Association. She enjoyed the company of the police officers and their spouses regularly attending Thursday night dinners at the FOP.  Additional interests included fishing, crafting, decorating, and cooking for family and friends. She also enjoyed time spent with her furry companions, Pooches and Molly.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 3 pm (visitation with the family at 2 pm), at the FOP Lodge No. 86, 1525 Shelby Street in Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Kennel of Arbor Lane, 4835 E. Edgewood Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46237.
