Rosalie was born on July 9, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1960 and graduated from Aristotle College in 1980.
Rosalie met John Thompson at Knobby’s restaurant where she worked. They married on October 8, 1962. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Louisiana where John was stationed in the Army. They moved back to Indiana a year later. They celebrated 60 wonderful years together.
The Lord blessed Rosalie with two wonderful sons and two stepchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Rosalie was a devoted Christian and known for her strong faith. She was a member of Geist Community Church. Making greeting cards was her ministry. She loved reading the Bible and she would make greeting cards with scriptures to send to friends and family who needed prayers and uplifting. She kept a prayer list and prayed for many people daily with her husband John.
She had many passions, including bowling, playing cards with family and friends, going to purse-bingo, shopping and listening to music.
Rosalie loved spending time with her family, and she relished every moment with them. She always looked forward to family gatherings and made sure everyone felt loved. She was a very giving and compassionate lady. She was also passionate about her pets that she had throughout the years.
Rosalie was a social butterfly, and she was best known for her beautiful uplifting smile, her positivity, inspiration and always had a kind word to say.
The Lord took her home on Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was 80 years young. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Rosalie is survived by, and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, John Thompson; sons, David Thompson (Gayle) and Kurt Thompson (Jill); stepson, John C. Thompson; granddaughters, Jessica Thompson Powell (Bart) and Baylee Thompson; great granddaughter, Genevieve Powell; sister, Linda Morrison Caplinger; brothers, Aubrey Caplinger (Liz) and Hal Caplinger (Geraldine); and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She is preceded in death by stepdaughter, Deborah Thompson Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 25th at Geist Community Church from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Service will start at 3:00pm and will be streamed Live for any family or friends who cannot attend.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
