Philip J. Barlow, 69, of Indianapolis, died January 19, 2024, after a prolonged illness.
He was born on December 25, 1954, in Martinsville, Indiana. Philip graduated from Martinsville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1974. After his medical discharge, he continued his passion for all things military and became quite an expert in the history of World War II. He loved to build model Navy aircraft carriers and destroyers and traveled with family to visit Naval museums. Philip’s love of everything Navy was seconded only by his love of all things Star Trek. An avid fan, he loved building models of the Starship Enterprise and collecting Star Trek memorabilia. He loved classic cars, classic movies, and video games.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Barlow, Jr., and Virginia (Allen) Barlow. He leaves behind his brother, Nelson Barlow of Martinsville, Indiana, his sister Claire Cedeño (Eduardo) of Mooresville, North Carolina, nieces, Candi Collins Ridge, (Michael Goode) of McCordsville, and Erin Huber Griffith, (Roy) of Indianapolis, Indiana. He also leaves behind his beloved Aunt, Barbara Richardson and Uncle, William (Bill) Allen, both of Martinsville, as several great-nieces, nephews and cousins in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date. Memorials or donations in his honor may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
