Linda was the first close friend I had in life, the first person outside of my family that I really came to know. We met in junior high and I have many happy memories of the times we shared. I remember dancing and singing at the top of our lungs in her parent's garage, sharing Tiger Beat and Sixteen magazines, painting our toenails, fantasizing about meeting the Osmonds , peeling potatoes (she taught me how to use a paring knife!), making no bake cookies, eating White Castle hamburgers and Hostess cupcakes, playing 45s, trying on Cover Girl cosmetics, doing our hair, skinny dipping in her backyard pool and riding in a car while Linda drove barefoot (I thought it was illegal!). We shared our hopes and dreams and encouraged each other. Linda made me feel as if I was special and I thought she was the most beautiful and amazing person I knew.
I lost touch with Linda more than 45 years ago, but I kept trying to find her over the years and miles that I traveled. I named my daughter Linda Christine in honor of Linda and I feared I might never get a chance to let her know how much she had meant to me. Thank God I was finally able to find Linda. I just wish there had been more time for us to share.
