John Edward Chapman left this world on June 1, 2023. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and the love of my life. He was the kindest person I ever knew, and he could have a conversation with anyone he met. He loved his family. He loved sports and good music and my pancakes. He loved playing cards with Shug and Rick. He loved camping with Peggy and Dave. He loved his aunts and uncles and cousins. He loved all my sisters and my brothers as family. He had a great sense of humor -we used to argue who was funnier. (I still think it was me-Babe.) He is survived by children Nikki, Aaron, and Clint. He loved Bronny Jo -his best good boy. I will miss him forever, but I will never forget his love, kindness, and devotion to me.

I am wondering if this marks the passing of my best childhood friend, Johnny Chapman, whose grandparents were Russell and Beulah, neighbors of mine on the west side of Indy. I also knew his uncles Bob (the artist) and Jim (the crazy one). We met in childhood but remained friends through the tumultuous 60s of our early adult years. Rosemary and Ronnie were his parents.
