Jerry William Sandefur

Jerry William “Jay” Sandefur, age 64, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Jay was born in El Paso, Texas to Frances “Pam” Brewster and Jerry Ray Sandefur. After Jay graduated from Coronado High School in 1976, he attended UTEP and then went to work at his family’s alarm business in San Jose, CA. He eventually transitioned into the computer industry and worked for various high-tech companies in the Bay Area (CA) and Denver, Colorado. In 2015, he moved to Indianapolis to be closer to his family.

Jay is a published graphic artist who loved art, movies, music, traveling, cooking and the great outdoors. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Jay is survived by his partner, April DeRiter Bay, their fur baby Gigi, his former wife, Kelly Finley Sandefur, and their sons, Derek and Matthew Sandefur, and his sisters Charlotte (David) Steinberg, Sharon (Pat) Perner-Miller, and Amy Mapula Paiz. Jay was also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
