Gary Scott Howard, age 60, of Indianapolis, Indiana, fought an 18-month battle with cancer. On Saturday, July 16, 2022, surrounded by his family, his battle ended. Gary was born on September 29, 1961, to Laymon and Carol Howard in North Manchester, IN. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1980 and attended Indiana University. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Tonya, Gary sold cabinets and counter tops for various companies in the Indianapolis area for over 35 years. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge serving the Monrovia Lodge #654 as a three-time Past Master.
Gary’s father, Laymon Howard, preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Carol A. Howard of Fishers; loving wife of 36 years, Tonya Thompson-Howard; their two daughters: Talynn (Nicholas) Thompson and Tess (Jordan) Segner along with their children, Theo, Teagan and soon to be born #3. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Howard (Carol) of Noblesville along with several much-loved nieces and nephews. He was proud to be a papaw and enjoyed playing Euchre, watching college and professional basketball, and going on side-by-side ATV trips with his brother and buddies. Gary was honored to serve his customers in the cabinet business.
Per his wishes, cremation has been chosen. There will be no funeral or graveside services. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life gathering at their home on July 30 beginning at 3:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cremation Society of Indiana, 4115 Shelby Street.
