Eleanor “Ellie” Louise Johnson passed peacefully at Brownsburg Meadows on March 4 in Brownsburg, Indiana at the age of 84.
Ellie was born on April 4, 1939, in Waltham, Massachusetts to Richard and Dorothy Dolloff. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1956. After having four boys, she went on to earn her degree in nursing from The Ohio State University in 1974.
Ellie is survived by her sister Debbie Calkins (Tom) of Berwick, Pennsylvania, sons David Phillips of Indianapolis, Robert Phillips (Cindy Mares) of Fishers, Michael Phillips (Dana) of Brownsburg, four grandchildren, Kristen Cross (Neal), Christopher Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Evelyn Phillips and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Will Johnson, daughter-in-law, Linda Phillips, and son, Richard Phillips.
Ellie married Will in 1978 and worked as a registered nurse for 40 years in Florida, North Carolina, and Indiana. She worked in ERs, nursing homes, and NICUs, but she was most passionate about providing in-home care for her patients in the local area.
Her loved ones remember her as an animal lover who never met a stray, she didn’t take in. Goats, birds, dogs, cats…she loved them all.
Ellie was passionate about her Ohio State Buckeyes and loved to talk about her encounters with Woody Hayes and Archie Griffin as a nursing student. She loved the Bee Gees and everything Will sang, so we know they are happy to be back together.
