In loving memory of Coleta Ganette Anderson Dickerson, who peacefully entered eternal rest on December 14, 2023, surrounded by her family at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Coleta, born on February 13, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina, was a devoted member of various churches throughout her life, including Refuge Temple Church, Rock of Truth Deliverance Ministries, and The Dwelling Place (Church of the Harvest).
A graduate of North Charleston High School and Trident Technical College, Coleta embarked on a fulfilling career at the post office in 1988, evolving from a clerk to a supervisor. Her journey took her from Saginaw, Michigan, to Evansville, Indiana, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends.
Shy in her early years, Coleta blossomed into a warm and vibrant soul, sharing her light, humor, and talents with everyone she encountered. Her passions included singing, roller skating, dancing, arts and crafts, reading, writing poetry, and nurturing her family with wisdom and grace.
Coleta is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Dickerson, Sr.; brothers, siblings Samuel, Eugene, Carlton, and Marvin Anderson; and sister Donnafaye Furby.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: India Williams (La’Won Williams), Dennis Dickerson, Jr., Jermaine Dickerson (Keiandria Dickerson), Marcus Dickerson (Tanisha Tierra Dickerson), Andre Dickerson, and Brandon Dickerson, along with a host of cherished grandchildren.
Grandchildren: J’Den Dickerson, Keanu Dickerson, Owen Dickerson, Ethan Dickerson, Cameron Dickerson, Lucas Dickerson, Giselle Dickerson, Solomon Williams, Zen Dickerson, Emma-Elise Dickerson, Khari Dickerson, Eli Williams, Nova Dickerson
Great grandchildren: Messiah Jay Dickerson
Her memory will be forever cherished by brothers, Rodney (Deborah) Anderson, and Pastor Ronald (Shirley) Anderson; sister, Audrey Mungin; sister-in-law, Lorraine Anderson; best friend, Pamela Shaw-Lindsey; and the surviving relatives of Dennis Dickerson, Sr.
The Dickerson family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Posey, Cathy, and members of The Dwelling Place, as well as the medical staffs of Deaconess Hospital and University of Indiana Methodist Hospital, and Amanda and The Fair Haven Staff of Indianapolis, Indiana.
In this time of sorrow, the family appreciates the outpouring of kindness, prayers, calls, texts, flowers, and cards from friends and well-wishers. Coleta’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort.
The Homegoing Celebration for Coleta Dickerson is scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2023, at noon, located at The Dwelling Place, 7825 Oak Hill Rd, Evansville, IN 47725.
