Dorothy Irene Miller, 95, was called home to her heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 29, 2020 at 12:35pm.
Dorothy was born March 10th, 1925 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, Paul Lewis and Florence Opal (McClymonds) Dittman. She graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, IN and attended Fort Wayne Business College. Dorothy was employed as a secretary at various Fort Wayne companies including, International Harvester and Wayne Pharmaceutical. She received her CNA degree from Athens Tech, GA and was employed at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, GA. Dorothy owned and operated “The Carrot Patch”, a health food store in Fort Wayne and was a lifetime member of the National Health Federation. She enjoyed being a Senior Citizen Peer Counselor affiliated with Community Howard Regional Health Hospital and trained by Donald Lindgren, Director of Older Adult Services.
Dorothy was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Kokomo, IN, the Kokomo Senior Citizen Center, and the KOFF (Kids Over Fifty-Five) Bowling Club. Being an only child, she loved reading and considered books to be her favorite companions. Dorothy enjoyed participating in various library book discussion groups.
She, also, loved to travel and has collected souvenir magnets from almost every state in the USA. Dorothy loved playing Bingo, Euchre, and Scrabble. She was passionate in her love for Jesus Christ and would eagerly witness to everyone who knew her.
Dorothy was a devoted mother to her children and is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Stuart) Mason; and sons, Mark Alan (Janet) Ortlieb and Paul Thomas Ortlieb. She loved and cherished spending time with her ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Katherine Ortlieb.
A family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Indiana.
