Susan Kay Mauro

October 31, 1954 - February 25, 2020

Susan was born in Chicago, IL on October 31, 1954 to Betty (Thomas) and Robert Mauro. She grew up in Lyons, IL with her Grandmother, Mother, and sisters, Wendy (Vopatek) Indovina and Deborah (Vopatek) Janes. She attended Morton West High School where she met her children’s Father. Susan was married in 1972 and moved to Graves County, KY where she spent most of her years as a football mom and caring for her four children. After her children were grown, she moved to Indianapolis, IN where she happily spent her remaining years.

Susan is survived by her four children, Tammie (Michael) Winkler of Paducah KY, Jarvis (Jennifer) Jones of Forest, VA, Robert Jones of Corpus Cristi, TX, and Michael (Leah) Jones of Louisville, KY. She adored her three grandchildren, Logen, Mason, and Matthew and her granddogs Duke & Gunner. She was an Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

At Susan’s request services will be private.

On Tuesday February 25, 2020, due to health complications Susan Kay Mauro, loving mother of four, passed away at age 65 under the diligent care of St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by her family. I searched for Sue for years as we were best friends in high school. She was a beautiful person inside and out and we were CLOSE like sisters. She had this great smile and beautiful skin. Our friendship was deep and she will always be a part of me. I hope that she found peace!
