Rachel A. Chu, 19, of Carmel, IN, died August 8, 2019. She was born February 6, 2000 in Mountain View, CA to Edward and Kathryn Plasterer Chu. Rachel was a pure soul who faced many challenges and inspired those around her. She enjoyed being part of the Indiana First Steps program and then attending Tri-County Opportunity School in Noblesville. There she made friends and got to learn and grow to her highest potential.
Rachel charmed those who met her with her infectious love of music and friendly gatherings. She enjoyed attending the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis and going to restaurants—anywhere she could be with people and hear music. Rachel particularly enjoyed the Indy Folk series, Symphony on the Prairie, and the local summer concert series.
Rachel lost her twin sister, Rebecca, at birth. She is survived by her parents and her brother, Andrew Fry (wife Julie) and nephews Dylan and Austin Fry of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are her grandmother, Lola Plasterer, and uncles Harold, Gary and Roger Plasterer, all of Warren, IN; aunt Carolyn of Huntington, IN; uncle Stephen Drake of St. George, Utah; and aunt Nancy Chu Meyers of Northville, MI. She is also preceded in death by grandparents Paul A. Plasterer, Hugh Chu, and Billie Mae Chu.
A celebration of life ceremony for Rachel will take place at 3:00 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, 615 W. 43rd St.
