Brenda Lou Wheeler

February 6, 1945 - July 21, 2021

Brenda Lou (Sims) Wheeler passed away on July 21, 2021. She was born on February 6, 1945 in Albion MI, where she lived until she married Larry Wheeler on June 22, 1963.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil & Louise Sims and four brothers, Jim, Ted, Gary and Don. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Larry Wheeler and five children: Gregg of Crawfordsville, IN, Kelly (Tom) Price of Zionsville, IN, Aaron (Renee) of New Castle, IN, Corey (Amy) of Noblesville, IN, and Jason (Charlotte Burtt-Wheeler) of Greenwood, IN; 15 grandchildren, Ryan Price, Kaitlyn Price, Colin Price, Paige Debiak (Dan), Blake Wheeler, Brady Wheeler, Cole Wheeler, Lauren Wheeler, Julia Wheeler, Madi Wheeler, Tyler Wheeler, Brittany Parker, Sara Burtt, Marty (Jessica) Burtt, Thomas Burtt; and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Cali.

Brenda and Larry began their marriage living in Battle Creek, MI and also Larry’s hometown of Marshall, MI and then they moved numerous times due to Larry’s sales career with Fleetwood Corp., having lived in Goshen IN, Edgerton, OH, Frankfort, IN, Rome, NY and finally settling in Crawfordsville, IN in 1977. Brenda loved the adventure of continuous moving during the 1970’s, never complaining about the constant uprooting of her family and enjoyed meeting all kinds of wonderful friends during those years. Brenda always had a ton of friends and people easily gravitated toward her genuinely warm, kind and caring heart and personality. She always seemed to light up a room with her bright spirit, no matter where she was.

Brenda was the most supportive, loving and dedicated wife and mother and she absolutely adored all of her grandkids. Having a busy, demanding schedule as a successful realtor for 28 years until her retirement, she always made plenty of time for her kids and grandkids, enjoyed supporting them in their sports & activities and made them feel special. She especially loved the holidays and hosting her large family gatherings.

In the early to mid 1960’s, she car-hopped at her & husband Larry’s two A&W drive-in restaurants in Marshall and Battle Creek, MI. She then stayed home for many years to raise their five children. In the late 1970’s through early 1990’s, she sold advertising part-time for the Messenger Crier weekly newspaper in Crawfordsville. In 1992, she began selling real estate at Landmark Realty. She continued her real estate career at Re/Max and F.C. Tucker real estate offices and then finally retired in 2020 at Carpenter Realty in Crawfordsville. Later in her real estate career, she teamed up with her husband Larry under the name “Team Wheeler” and they were a very successful realtor team together for many years.

Brenda enjoyed playing euchre in her monthly card club and also enjoyed weekly luncheons with a group of close friends.

She was a long-time member of Woodland Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville.

Brenda will be greatly missed by her family, numerous friends and many clients & colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to honor Brenda on Saturday, July 24th at 5:00pm at Eastside Baptist Church located at 2000 Traction Road, Crawfordsville, Indiana 47933. Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a dinner in the church gym for family members.

Larry, My heart is broken for you and the whole family. Brenda always had such a warm welcome that made me feel like a daughter. She was a very special lady. Lots of prayers for all of you.

We are so sorry to hear about Brenda..I always looked forward to talking with her at Larry's class reunions. Brenda was so friendly and fun to talk with. Our thoughts and sympathy to you Larry and your family.

Larry, I’m so sorry for your loss but try to take comfort knowing that Brenda’s suffering is over. I had Brenda on my mind lately and actually sent her a text message on 7/10 and was concerned when she did not respond. It’s never easy when you lose your life mate, but in time the pain will be replaced with sweet memories of your time together. Prayers for comfort for you and your family as you deal with life without Brenda.

So sorry for your loss but happy for Brenda as she is at peace now. She was a wonderful, friendly lady who would do whatever she could for all. She loved her family dearly.

Brenda was my friend of a lifetime. Even tho we only lived in the same city for about seven years, we developed a friendship that could not be broken by time, distance, or cancer. I loved her and I love each of you..Larry, Greg & Lori, Kelly & Tom, Aaron & Renee, Corey & Amy, and Jason & Charlotte. You are a wonderful family....Brenda was an amazing person. Always willing to listen and never judged. She accepted everyone at whatever point they were in life. Love you all. Continue the love and closeness she instilled in each of you.

Condolences to the entire Wheeler family. What a caring, loving person Brenda was. She brightened everyone's lives with her genuine personality, and sense of humor. She truly cared about other people...its the way she lived. The world will be a sadder place without her, but heaven has received a new angel. Rest in peace to one the best people I've ever known.

Our thoughts are with you during this time of grieving. Please know that you are not alone in remembering a truly wonderful person that meant so much to so many. She remains a very dear friend. I find comfort in the knowledge that Brenda will go on through those she left behind. Her kindness, great sense of humor, and the many FUN times we had in Albion, Michigan at the home of Edna Yokom.
