Brenda Lou (Sims) Wheeler passed away on July 21, 2021. She was born on February 6, 1945 in Albion MI, where she lived until she married Larry Wheeler on June 22, 1963.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil & Louise Sims and four brothers, Jim, Ted, Gary and Don. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Larry Wheeler and five children: Gregg of Crawfordsville, IN, Kelly (Tom) Price of Zionsville, IN, Aaron (Renee) of New Castle, IN, Corey (Amy) of Noblesville, IN, and Jason (Charlotte Burtt-Wheeler) of Greenwood, IN; 15 grandchildren, Ryan Price, Kaitlyn Price, Colin Price, Paige Debiak (Dan), Blake Wheeler, Brady Wheeler, Cole Wheeler, Lauren Wheeler, Julia Wheeler, Madi Wheeler, Tyler Wheeler, Brittany Parker, Sara Burtt, Marty (Jessica) Burtt, Thomas Burtt; and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Cali.
Brenda and Larry began their marriage living in Battle Creek, MI and also Larry’s hometown of Marshall, MI and then they moved numerous times due to Larry’s sales career with Fleetwood Corp., having lived in Goshen IN, Edgerton, OH, Frankfort, IN, Rome, NY and finally settling in Crawfordsville, IN in 1977. Brenda loved the adventure of continuous moving during the 1970’s, never complaining about the constant uprooting of her family and enjoyed meeting all kinds of wonderful friends during those years. Brenda always had a ton of friends and people easily gravitated toward her genuinely warm, kind and caring heart and personality. She always seemed to light up a room with her bright spirit, no matter where she was.
Brenda was the most supportive, loving and dedicated wife and mother and she absolutely adored all of her grandkids. Having a busy, demanding schedule as a successful realtor for 28 years until her retirement, she always made plenty of time for her kids and grandkids, enjoyed supporting them in their sports & activities and made them feel special. She especially loved the holidays and hosting her large family gatherings.
In the early to mid 1960’s, she car-hopped at her & husband Larry’s two A&W drive-in restaurants in Marshall and Battle Creek, MI. She then stayed home for many years to raise their five children. In the late 1970’s through early 1990’s, she sold advertising part-time for the Messenger Crier weekly newspaper in Crawfordsville. In 1992, she began selling real estate at Landmark Realty. She continued her real estate career at Re/Max and F.C. Tucker real estate offices and then finally retired in 2020 at Carpenter Realty in Crawfordsville. Later in her real estate career, she teamed up with her husband Larry under the name “Team Wheeler” and they were a very successful realtor team together for many years.
Brenda enjoyed playing euchre in her monthly card club and also enjoyed weekly luncheons with a group of close friends.
She was a long-time member of Woodland Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville.
Brenda will be greatly missed by her family, numerous friends and many clients & colleagues.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to honor Brenda on Saturday, July 24th at 5:00pm at Eastside Baptist Church located at 2000 Traction Road, Crawfordsville, Indiana 47933. Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a dinner in the church gym for family members.
