Thomas “Tom” Lee Daniel

Tom Daniel passed away at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on July 4th at age 69. His health had been declining for the last few years. He was born on October 6, 1951, in Mount Carmel, Illinois. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School and attained a BA in Business Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii in 1982. He also attended Ivy Tech and received an LPN in 1989.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman 1st Class and was stationed in Hawaii for the majority of his six-year enlistment.
Tom was active in 4-H in his youth with the Happy Hoppers and showed Hereford cattle at the Monroe County Fair while in 4-H. He was a fan of baseball at all levels and sponsored an adult softball team for several years. He was a big fan of IU Basketball. He also enjoyed gardening and baking later in life and loved to share his produce and prized persimmon pudding with family and friends.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 479 in Lyons, Indiana. At one time he was an avid runner and was proud to have completed at least one full marathon. Tom retired as a Veteran’s Rep from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Tom is survived by his mother, Charlotte (Curry Daniel) Brashaber; his two brothers: Roger A. Daniel and Kenneth R. Daniel, and a sister Kathy S. (Daniel) Edwards. He was preceded in death by his father Russell D. Daniel.
