Lois J. Hearne Locke, 93, of Indianapolis, passed peacefully on the 2nd of February, 2021 in Indianapolis.
Her ashes will be buried in the gravesite of her firstborn son, Jack Edward Murphy, at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. To honor Lois’s last wishes, there will be no services.
Lois was born in Indianapolis to Bonnie Hearne and Edward L. Hearne II. She married James W. Locke on October 1, 1949 in Greenfield, Indiana. They met at Allison where she worked as a switchboard operator at the time Jim was on assignment for the Department of Defense. She became a housewife after giving birth to her second son in 1951. She was PTA President in South Bend, active in Little League and a popular mother on school field trips. Her many talents included sewing, upholstery, decorating, with a good sense of humor she kept through the end. She was a caregiver to her father, mother, son, father-in-law and helped many others along the way. In later years, she was an avid reader and Butler Basketball fan.
Lois is preceded in death by James W. Locke (spouse), Harry E. Southern (companion), Jack Edward Murphy (son), John Hearne (brother), Edward L. Hearne III (brother), Edward L. Hearne II (father), Bonnie F. Hearne Graf (mother), Lois Jean Rump (lifelong crony).
Lois is survived by son, James W. Locke (Cheryl) and daughter, Terri Ann Locke.
