Velma Larch Robertson Barrett

Velma J. Barrett, age 89, dies February 10, 2023, at Franciscan Health in Mooresville, Indiana. Born near Tab, Indiana, on June 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Meredith E. and Ruth McLaughlin Larch.

A lifelong resident of the tab area, she attended Tab and Ambia schools, and was a 1973 graduate of Benton Central High School. She had resided at Worthington Place in Camby since August 2020.

Velma’s first marriage was to Robert Robertson on November 1, 1950, at the Methodist Parsonage in Ambia, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1972. She then married Frank Barrett in Indianapolis on August 13, 1979, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2010.

Velma was a member of the Locust Grove Methodist Church where she served as the pianist from 1955 to 1975. Music was the love of her life. She was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast.

She was the manager at Petrolane gas in Boswell, Indiana from 1971 to 1981. From 1991-2001 she was the secretary at O’Malley Farms in rural Ambia. She then worked part time at Tab Elevator before retiring in 2004.

Surviving her are her children, Deborah Robertson Zoch of Plainfield, and Bruce Robertson of Indianapolis: stepson Mark Barrett of Tab; grandchildren Meredith Larch Zoch of Plainfield, Robert Robertson of Florida, Travis Barrett of Boswell, Amber Winters of Oxford; great granddaughter Sutton Kutz of Plainfield; cousin Kevin (Marti) McLaughlin, and nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her brother Edward Larch on February 15, 2006; son Steven P. Robertson on November 14, 2017; granddaughter Shauna Robertson on February 6,2023.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cremation Society of Indiana, 4115 Shelby Street.
