Rosie Thompson

October 13, 1935 - November 22, 2025

Rosie L. Thompson, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on the night of November 22, 2025. She was born in Minter City, Mississippi to Dan and Margie Harris. Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Thompson, and her siblings. Rosie is survived by all seven of her children. From her children, Rosie had grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren totaling forty-four souls. Rosie was the essence of what it means to be a giver. Throughout her life, she consistently put others ahead of herself. She was a compassionate person. In her home and in her heart, she made room for everyone. Whether or not she knew you personally, Rosie had the uncanny ability to help everyone that she could with whatever that she had. She gave far more than she received. She accepted less than she should have accepted. All that she experienced (positively and negatively) during her time here on earth shaped her into the powerful lifeforce that she became. Rosie’s departure has left empty spaces in the lives of so many people. Her presence, essence, and love will be greatly missed. A private celebration of Rosie’s journey through life will be held at a later date.

Mom you and Dad can now watch over the entire family together until we meet again love always

My Nana Banana. The first sunrise after you left hit the hardest, because it was the first one in my life that we didn’t exist on the same plane. The selfish, cowardly part of me wishes there was a way I wouldn’t have to face this, because how do you let go of someone who has been a constant source of love? Wherever you were, it was home. There isn’t a thing more I could ask of you, and I sure didn’t deserve all of the love you gave to me. Always selfless. Always gracious. A sense of humor that I’ll always cherish. I can’t name a time I was ever mad at you. If anything, my feelings were hurt because I fell short of your expectations. Thank you for my wonderful mom. Thank you for each aunt and uncle. They’ve all put bricks into the foundation that you and Daddy started. I hope I make you proud.

Mom I miss you already. The love of a mother can never be replaced. We will stand tall and carry on as you would want us to. You will truly be missed I know your in a better place and yes the famly is taking it hard but we got each other and glad I got the chance to spend a few hours with you. Love always
