Richard Dorsey Billmyre, 78, of Noblesville, IN formerly of Ridgley, WV, died peacefully in his home on October 15, 2024.
Richard (Dick) was born July 16, 1946, in Cumberland, MD to parents Dorsey and Mary (Crampton) Billmyre. Dick graduated from Ridgley High School in 1964 and then attended Potomac State College in Keyser, WV before continuing his studies at West Virginia University where in 1969 he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
After initially being employed at Borg Warner in Chicago following graduation, Dick moved on to Paul Hosler Inc in Indianapolis. It was here in 1970 that he attended a party following a college football game where he met his soon-to-be wife, Janet Parish. The couple got married on December 1, 1973, in Indianapolis.
By 1975, Dick founded Billmyre & Associates and later American Multitech, where he was granted three patents for the design and construction of liquid acid recovery systems. Systems that went on to be installed throughout the United States and Mexico.
After a successful career spanning over thirty years across entrepreneurship and engineering, Dick retired in 2001 and, with Janet, became a snowbird spending his winters in Spring Hill, FL. During this time, he became an avid golfer, making countless numbers of friends on golf courses in both Indiana and Florida. He also enjoyed traveling, having a particular interest in cruising. With Janet by his side, Dick had adventured to every continent by 2019.
But ultimately his family was the light of his life. One of his favorite activities was creating elaborate and artistically designed cakes for the birthday celebrations of his grandkids whom he cherished.
Dick was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 to 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Noblesville, IN; his daughters, Tisha (Kyle) Smith of Carmel, IN, Ambra (Chuck) Mikuzis of Chesterton, IN; four grandchildren, Evie & Ethan Smith, and Monty & Gus Mikuzis.
Dick was preceded in death by both his parents and two brothers (George and Jack Billmyre).
