Patricia “Patty” Lynn Hart, 71, of Summitville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. She was born on February 17, 1954, in Mathews, Indiana, the daughter of Benson and Pauline Hart.
Patty spent most of her life in Summitville, where she was known for her independence, creativity, and deep love of the natural world. She found joy in gardening, herbs, and forestry, and expressed her artistic spirit through crafting and painting. Her quiet strength and free-spirited nature left an imprint on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Eric Fernung and Chris Fernung; her brother Dick Hart; her sister Dianne Hart; her five grandchildren, Cheyanne and Damon Hasty, and Jake, Luke, and Christian Fernung; and her two great-granddaughters, Renesmay and Tatum. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Fernung, her brother Darryl Hart, and her parents Benson and Pauline Hart.
In keeping with Patty’s wishes, no services will be held. Her life was her ceremony, rooted in the earth, expressed through creation, and remembered in every growing thing. Those who wish to honor her memory may do so by spending time in nature, tending to a garden, or by creating something beautiful.
