Mike was born on July 17, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio to Harvey and Jane (Eulalia) Hanks. He married Susan Wilson, and they just recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Jane, and brother Terry Hanks.
Mike is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Trisha Smith and Carrie Perez, and sons Tom and John Hanks. He also has three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Mike graduated from Ohio State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went on to a long career of 43 years with Raytheon, as a software quality engineer. Mike had been retired for five years.
Mike was also a veteran having served in the Navy where he was a radar operator on a mine sweeping boat. He was stationed in the Mediterranean during the Vietnam War. Mike served in the Navy for 4 years.
He loved fixing things, working on puzzles and spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 7th at The American Legion Post 500, 1926 Georgetown Road, Speedway, IN. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00-2:00 pm, with a short service planned afterwards.
