Mark Steven Lyons, aged 70, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Albany, IN. Born on July 24, 1954, Mark was known for his proud, kind, creative, and musical nature.
Mark dedicated his career to mental health, working as a therapist at Lykins Counseling Clinic, where he provided support and guidance to many. He was a passionate musician in his younger years, often found playing percussion in various bands. His love for music was paralleled by his enjoyment of watching old movies, a hobby that brought him much joy throughout his life.
Mark was a proud graduate of Muncie Central High School and later attended Ball State University, where he completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees. His academic journey deeply influenced his professional path and personal development.
He is survived by his wife Tamara Lyons, stepchildren, Wendy Newbery and Michael Newbery and his wife Jennifer Newbery; step-grandchildren, Julianna and Connor Newbery; and his brother, Michael Lyons and his wife, Michele. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Marcile Lyons, and his son, Mark W. Lyons.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services; cremation will take place. Those wishing to honor Mark’s memory can make contributions to ARF, an organization he deeply cared about. Mark’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and dedication to the well-being of others will be remembered by all who knew him.
