Margaret (Novikoff) Cox died May 11, 2022, at 91 after a long illness. The daughter of Russian immigrants, she grew up in East Chicago, Indiana, and lived in Sacramento, California; Denver, Colorado; and Carmel, Indiana, before settling in Indianapolis. She received a B.S in Elementary Education in 1952 from Franklin College, from which her eldest son, Gordon, and his sons, Matthew, and Christopher, also graduated. She met her husband, David Cox, at Franklin College, and they married in 1958, sharing more than thirty years together. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority and remained active with the organization throughout her life. She earned a master’s degree in Education from Indiana University and went on to work professionally as a teacher and editor. She held lifelong interests in theater and bridge, and loved traveling, reading, and animals.
Preceded in death by her parents, William, and Edith Novikoff; brother, Eugene Novikoff; and ex-husband, David Cox, she is survived by her three children and their spouses, Gordon and Janet Cox of Greenwood, Indiana; Graham Cox and Emily Jackson of Plano, TX; and Gail Cox and Jeff Mason, of New York, NY and Ann Arbor, MI. She had three grandchildren, Matthew Cox (Jori), Christopher Cox, and David Cox, and two step grandsons, Henry, and Elliot Mason.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Franklin College Baseball Bullpen Club, Houston Chow Chow Rescue, or the animal rescue or arts organization of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Cremation Society of Indiana, 4115 Shelby Street.
