James “Jim” Martin Ludwig

January 31, 1933 - March 22, 2023

James Martin Ludwig, age 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 31, 1933, James proudly served on the U.S.N. Destroyer, “Helena” during The Korean Conflict from 1950-1953. He was the Radio Communication Operator Chief.

Upon discharge from the U.S. Navy, Jim was employed by the Inland Steel Corporation in northern Indiana for 30 yrs.

James married Simone Widaman, from Hobart, IN. in 1978. They relocated to Indianapolis in 1984 to be near family.

He is survived by stepson, Charles Widaman and wife Nancy of Indianapolis, and beloved granddaughter, Lauren Simone Larson of San Clemente, CA.

The “Eternal Liberty” site at Washington Park North will be Jim’s final resting place. Funeral services will be private.
