Cheryl Warren ,68, of Atlanta, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Richard Roudebush VA hospital on December 24, 2024.
She was born to parents Mary and Charles Horne on Feb 17,1956 in Albuquerque NM. She was born into a military family and lived in many states including Alaska throughout her life. She graduated from Valley Highschool in New Mexico. She was a Job’s daughter, and Rainbow Girl. After high school she enlisted in the US Army. She was a proud Veteran and member of Women’s Army Corps (WAC). It was a great honor for her to have served. She was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where she met the love of her life Jeff Warren. When they returned state side she left behind New Mexico and joined Jeff in Noblesville Indiana. They were married on September 07, 1977. They had two daughters and moved to Atlanta Indiana in 1980. Although part of her heart always remained in Albuquerque New Mexico, she became a lifelong resident of Atlanta Indiana.
She loved Elvis Presley, gardening, crafts, hummingbirds, and flowers. In the summer you could always find her in her yard working or just hanging out in the backyard or cruising through town on her golfcart. She also enjoyed the recent addition of her front porch and sitting outside chatting with family and friends. She was a girl scout leader and softball coach for many years. She was known as the neighborhood mom to her children’s friends and then promoted to the neighborhood grandmother. She loved her “Broadway Mafia” still keeping tabs on them as they grew up. On any given day you can pass by their house and still see neighborhood children playing in her yard. She welcomed everyone and treated them like family. If you grew up in Atlanta after 1980, it is possible she was part of your childhood. Everyone knew Cheryl. She loved her family very much and enjoyed large family get togethers whether it be for holidays or just because. Family was important to her she made sure to pass on her strong family values. She was proud of all of them and nothing made her happier then having them all together.
