John Michael Green, “Mike” passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 at Community South Hospital. Mike was born on October 20, 1949 in Greensburg, IN to John and Martha Green, who preceded him in death.
Mike participated in Boy Scouts of America and had earned his Eagle Scout Award. He met his wife of 48 years at Ball State University and married on February 19, 1972. Mike graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, although music was always his passion. Mike was a member of Westside Church of the Nazarene and participated in the church choir and orchestra. He especially loved playing guitar, banjo, and trumpet. He loved to wake his children up for church on Sunday mornings by playing Reveille on the Bugle, he loved it, them not so much but it made good memories. Mike enjoyed a good joke and the chaos of a large family; of his children and grandchildren running and shouting in play; of friends and relatives talking and laughing together. He learned to repair cars by watching his father-in-law and studying car manuals. He was active in Boy Scouts, camping, canoe trips, and earning his Eagle Scout award as youth. As an adult, he continued to participate in Boy Scouts with his sons. He especially enjoyed participating in the Labor Day Ham Stand with Troop 301 in Danville with son, Joseph. Although no longer active, he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), even acting as President for a short while.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jean Anne; children, Chris (Resa) Green, Elizabeth (Nick) Albright, Joseph (Megan) Green, and JoAnna (Franklin) Ncube; and grandchildren, Nathanial, Tobey, Hudson, Lucy, and Lena. He is also survived by brother, Rick (Teresa) Green; sister, Nancy (Keith) Brant; sister-in-laws, Janice (Victor) Prentiss and Joyce Roads; and many nieces and nephews. Mike will be missed by many.
