Miyoko Smith, 82, of Greenwood, formerly of Shelbyville and Columbus, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Miyoko was born in Kagoshima, Japan. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Charles Smith, a U.S. Navy veteran. Later that year, she emigrated to the United States, living briefly in Greensburg before settling in Columbus, where she gave birth to her only child, Paul Smith. In 1978, she was naturalized as a U.S. citizen.
Miyoko was preceded in death by her parents, in Japan, and by her husband.
Survivors include her son, daughter-in-law Ashlei, grandchildren Samantha and Christian, and great grandchildren Aerith and Titan.
She will be buried at a private service in Daugherty Cemetery, Columbus, Indiana.
