Charles Alex Zebendon, age 90, died in Bloomington, IN, April 26, 2021. Chuck Zebendon was born in Plant City, Florida on December 28, 1930 to Francis Max and Eldis M. (Porter) Zebendon. He married Lucy Jane Holt in 1956.
During his life, Chuck worked as a strawberry picker in Florida, a paperboy in Ohio, a migrant worker in Michigan, a steel mill worker in Indiana, a U.S. Marine 1951-1954 and president of First National Bank of Bloomington (now, JP Morgan Chase Bank).
He graduated from Plant City High School in 1948 and Indiana University, BS 1957; MBA 1958. He was associated with the Boy Scouts of America, United Way, Regional Ivy Tech Board, Northside Exchange Club, American Bankers Association, Indiana Bankers Association, American Legion, Elks, Beta Gamma Sigma and First Christian Church.
He is survived by Jane, his wife of 65 years; daughters, Anne Johnson of Bloomington, IN, Claire (Jim) Doucet of Edisto Island, SC, Lucy (David) Endris of Franklin, IN; five grandsons, Charles (Chip) (Tara) Johnson, Alex (April) Doucet, Brian Doucet, William Endris, and Zebendon P. (Brittany) Endris; three granddaughters, Ashley Johnson, Rachel Doucet, and Grace Endris; three great grandsons, Jackson Wilcoxon, Cohen Johnson, and Sawyer Johnson; one great granddaughter, Heidi Grace Spencer; sister, Fran Masters of Issaquah, WA; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Fassbender of Escanaba, MI and Sally Zebendon of Fishers, IN.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Lemar Zebendon.
Visitation and service will be conducted Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Monroe Convention Center in the Zebendon room, 302 S. College Ave., Bloomington IN. 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM visitation, service at 4:30 PM. Masks are required. Memorial contributions may be made to Ivy Tech Foundation/ Scholarship Fund, 200 Daniels Way, Bloomington, IN 47404. The Cremation Society of Indiana is entrusted with arrangements.
