Known to many as Tom or TJ, he was a veteran, carpenter, and musician who devoted his life to God and helping others. Tom genuinely put his heart and soul into everything that he did— with an infectious smile and sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Chandler; sister Denice Chandler, brother Thornton Chandler II, grandchildren Kristi Cobaxin, Eric Alvarado, Melissa Oran, Matthew Alvarado, Thomas Jerald Chandler III, Scott Chandler, Devin Chandler, Dion Bannister, Michael Laaser, Dakota Laaser, Maria Laaser, Kobe Chandler, and several great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Sandra Chandler, daughter Mechelle Chandler, son Thomas Jerald Chandler II, mother Florence Chandler, father Thornton Benjamin Chandler Sr, and sister Reba Kirkwood.
Tom was a devout family man who loved spending time flipping through car magazines, watching football, writing poetry, working in his wood shop, and caring for his animals. Tom was a well known and respected member of his community, and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him.
Tom will be cremated at the Indiana Cremation Society and laid to rest with his wife at New Crown Cemetery, at a later date. Details for his Celebration of Life will be available once final arrangements have been made.
