Robert (Bob) Mayer passed away on December 6, 2020, at the age of 91, in Indianapolis.
Bob is survived by his three children, Tracy Mayer, Derek Mayer, and Ryan Mayer; four grandchildren, Emily, Eric, Abby, and Lander; brothers, William and Edward; sister, Bonnie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy; brother, Norman; and sister, Joan. Bob was married to Janet (Weilert) Stuller and then to Peggy (Ward) Mayer, who both were preceded in death.
Bob was born in Rochester, NY and graduated from Oswego State University College with an Industrial Arts Degree. Settling down in the Rochester area, he was a teacher, real estate developer, car builder, and Sunday School teacher. Home was also in Spokane, Washington; Smith Mountain Lake, VA; and Roanoke, VA before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. Friends and family will fondly remember Bob as a problem solver and skilled craftsman. He was a devoted member of the Christian Science Church and always involved with church activities, daily prayer, and always wore an infectious smile.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Altenheim Community in Indiana, niece, Allison, her husband, Rowan, and Carolyn McCorkindale for their thoughtful and loving care of Bob. A private family ceremony is planned.
