Lewis Simmons, Jr. passed away December 2, 2020. Lew was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Lewis and Belle Simmons, on May 5th, 1924.
He exemplified being a member of the greatest generation. He was drafted into the US Army, at the age of 18, then fought in the European Theatre in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. Lew returned stateside after being honorably discharged in 1945, where he served with the Indiana State Police in northern Indiana. After 7 years of service as a trooper, Lew moved to Indianapolis where he was an adjuster with State Farm Insurance. He later owned a marina in Cape Coral, Florida and was one of the founders of the Cape Coral Christmas Boat Parade.
Lew settled into retirement in Bedford, then Cloverdale ,Indiana. He traveled with the Indy Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2014 with friend, Eric Rossok.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kay. He is survived by his children, Donna Dalton and Robert Simmons.
Lew will be fondly remembered by the entire Rossok family.
Private graveside services will be held in Kokomo, Indiana.
