Nolan Patton

Nolan Patton, 80, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 2, 2020.

Nolan was born and raised in Ohio, but Beech Grove, Indiana was his home where he raised his family, was very active in the community, and made many lifelong friends. At one time or another, he was active with the Kiwanis (past President), Beech Grove Little League, and generally active in the Beech Grove community.

Nolan spent his entire career working in or around the railroad industry working for many companies including The David Joseph Company, Harris Calorific Sales Inc.(co-owner), and most recently with his son, Steve and daughter, Rebecca at Indy Rail Connection. Nolan had the great fortune in his career to travel this country and several countries outside of the US. Nolan was one of the true “Road Warriors” over the course of his career.

Nolan was also a “car and motorcycle” guy in the truest sense. One of his hobbies was working on, driving, and riding several “toys” that he owned over the years. You could always find him in his garage working on some car or bike. In addition, he was a huge motorsports fan enjoying drag racing, stock cars, and the old dirt tracks.

Nolan is survived by his wife ,Sandy; sister, Pat (John); brother, David (Karen); sons, Patrick (Thelma) and Steve (Kathy); and daughter, Rebecca (Jeff). Nolan was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He absolutely adored being a husband, dad, grandpa/poppy/Gpa, and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his father ,Howard; mother, Mildred; and his brother, Harold.

A memorial gathering is scheduled for Wednesday Dec. 9, 2020 from 2-6pm with a short service being held from 5:30-6:00pm. This will be at Holy Name Church 89 N 17th Beech Grove, IN 46107 in the Franciscan room.

Please wear a mask and we will be observing social distancing practices.

Hello Sandy, I am so sorry to read this. Dan and I are on our way to visit one of our kids in Chicago, and then see our youngest daughter in Minnesota. We are passing through Indiana.
