John Lane, 91, of Brownsburg, Indiana, formerly of Manson, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020. He was born in Greene County, Iowa to Bruce and Bonnie Lane.
John graduated from Farnhamville High School and later earned the U.S. Army Combat Infantryman Badge, during the Korean Conflict.
John retired after many years working at the U.S. Post Office in Fort Dodge and Manson. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, traveling, and watching sports. He especially enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. John was an active member of the Manson VFW and Knights of Columbus. In 2013, he enjoyed the privilege of going on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit our National Memorials.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, George Ann (McMahon) Lane; three children, Pam (Rick) Hindman of Venice, Florida, Larry (Donna) Lane of New Bremen, Ohio, and Jackie (Anton) Arnoldy of Brownsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Delaney (Joey) Arnoldy Hamby, Mason Arnoldy, Ryan Hindman, Drew Hindman, Katie Hindman, Hannah Lane, and Tess Lane.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Chuck Lane; sister Alice Huston; and a beloved granddaughter, Zoe Lane.
Services will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson, Iowa on November 7, 2020 at 10:30am with interment immediately following at the St. Thomas Cemetery in Manson. A one hour visitation will be at the church before the Mass. The family asks that everyone please wear a mask and practice social distancing at the service.
