Heather Smith Edgerton, 76, of Kingsland, Georgia, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on September 19, 2020.
Heather was born to the late John and Florence Edgerton, November 29, 1943 in Lafayette, Indiana. She graduated from Pine Village High School in 1961, received a BS from Indiana University in 1966, and an MS from Ball State University.
Heather is survived by two children; Kirsten Slaby, of Indianapolis and Byron (Darbbie) Slaby, of Fort Thomas; 4 grandchildren, Savannah, Hank, Caroline, and Emersen Slaby of Fort Thomas; sisters, Celeste Edgerton, of Indianapolis, Darci (Dennis) Lasley, of Louisville, and Dia (Steve) Brown, of Pine Village.
Heather loved learning and advanced her education throughout most of her life. Heather was able to play piano, guitar, and sang in several choirs. She was an accomplished musician and passed her love for music onto her children and grandchildren. She also loved dancing. As a mom, she would teach right from wrong and allowed her children space to explore and learn on their own. She worked as a therapist and spent most of her days helping others work out life’s challenges. Heather was devoted to her work and would often take work home with her. She was always looking to help the less fortunate and to advocate for them.
Heather enjoyed walks on the beach and had moved south to warmer weather years ago to “soak up the sun”.
